The VEVRAA regulations require contractors to invite applicants to self-identify as a protected veteran prior to making a job offer, in addition to the longstanding requirement to invite post-offer self-identification. The 503 regulations, pertaining to disability, also requires federal contractors to survey their workforce regarding disability every five years and once in between those five years. A best practice is to survey the workforce for veteran status at the same time.
