In the state of Michigan – A state government job posted a position stating that the experience requirement was three years of management experience. When applications were selected for interview – HR screened out applications with less than 5 years experience. Should another screening tool been used to screen out applicants as the posting stated that the qualifications was 3 years management experience? an example of using another screening tool would be that in the application, it asks for the number of years the applicant has experience using a database – then the apps can be screened from there (those with 3 or more years of database experience). Please clarify.
