It saddens us at Circa to write about the recent events in our society; the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery; and the resulting maelstrom this has thrown our country into.

Racial profiling, xenophobia, racial violence, racial discrimination – racism in any form is wrong. It goes against the very core of our country’s founding principles, that we are all created equal and have the same inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. No one race has a superior right over others, and government, including law enforcement authorities, must safeguard these rights, and apply the law equally to all.

As a company that believes in equality, diversity, and inclusion, Circa condemns all acts of racial violence and racism against African Americans and other people of color.

As a leading provider of solutions for diversity recruiting, affirmative action, and equal opportunity compliance, we believe diverse teams have the power to transform business. Research supports that better decisions are made when different and complementary perspectives are considered. We are made much better when we embrace our differences and provide equal opportunity for everybody regardless of race, national origin, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, gender identity, age, or disability, to realize their best self and contribute meaningfully to our organizations and to society.

Sadly, these recent events have set us back in our journey to true diversity and inclusion, and underscores how much more remains to be done. What can we do as organizations and individuals?

We can all do our part in healing our nation by taking actions to understand, support, and accept.

We need to understand. We need to strive to know each other’s stories, journeys, and challenges simply because they are different. Only then can we truly appreciate what it is like to be in each other’s shoes.

We need to support the rights of those who have historically been disenfranchised and level the playing field through equal opportunity and affirmative action.

We need to accept each other for who we are, stop excluding those who are different, and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.

As the land of the free, we believe the USA should stand for inclusion, not division.

Understanding. Support. Acceptance. We’re better together.
