On November 8th, OFCCP went live on its website with a VEVRAA Focused Review page full of terrific information and details to help federal contractors navigate the upcoming VEVRAA audits. This resource center provides a one-stop shop of valuable insight, samples, and additional links which will be especially helpful for those employers on the recently released FY 2019 CSAL supplemental list.
The VEVRAA Focused Reviews landing page features a focused reviews Q&A, detailed VEVRAA best practices from OFCCP, and a link to additional resources geared toward veterans and compliance assistance. You can also find the VEVRAA regulations and Directive 2018-04, which lays out the goal of having “a portion of future scheduling lists include focused reviews as to each of the three authorities that the OFCCP enforces…”
OFCCP’s creation of the new section is yet another example of its commitment to work in partnership with federal contractors, providing consistent assistance when it comes to compliance. Since taking over as OFCCP Director, Craig Leen has stressed the importance of guidance and transparency between the agency and employers.
While this new information hub will be notably relevant to establishments on the latest CSAL, all federal contractors obligated to VEVRAA requirements will benefit from the information OFCCP provides here. With the veteran unemployment rate at 3.2% in October, it will continue to be a challenge for employers to effectively recruit and hire from this talent pool.
Some of the additional examples and insights include:
- Sample VEVRAA AAP
- Sample invitation to self-identify
- Veterans’ Employment Training and Service (VETS)
- Protected veterans’ rights fact sheet
- Contact information
Be sure to check for further details that will be added to the site in the future, including a copy of the VEVRAA Focused Reviews Scheduling Letter when those are ready. They could be sent within 45 days, which would be as early as December 23, 2019.
