Today is the 3rd day of Ramadan, a month-long religious festival observed by Muslim communities in the United States and around the world, including our fellow Circadian colleagues!
“Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and community. Muslims believe that Ramadan teaches them to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate, thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat). Fasting from sunrise to sunset is obligatory for all adult Muslims.”
In 2021, Ramadan begins on April 12 and ends on May 12.
